Software Features Details
- Security Modes
There are two security modes. Shell mode & Restricted Mode. Shell mode is the safest mode. User cannot interact with your system. He cannot access Windows Start button, task bar, task manager, desktop etc. In restricted mode, there are more than 30 restrictions that can be applied on the system like hide drives, hide desktop, hide task manager etc
- Shell Mode
When the MAS Café starts in shell mode, this application covers the screen and completely locks the system. System keys (Ctrl+Alt+Del, Win key, F4, Crtl+Esc...) are disabled and computer is waiting for start of the session. When a customer enters Pre-Paid Time Code, then computer is ready for use.
In shell mode, MAS Café replaces Windows taskbar with its own, increasing security. Start button and pop-up windows are removed. If you rather prefer having Windows environment (taskbar, Start button and icons) then apply restrictions through Security screen on admin panel.
Run as Shell (replace Explorer) enables very high security. Let's put it this way: When the Windows starts, it loads some environment like desktop icons, taskbar, system keys support etc. This is available when the shell is loaded, and by default it is Windows Explorer shell. Since desktop icons, start button, system keys decrease system security; MAS Café can replace shell and remove security backdoors. Running as Shell, MAS Café will be loaded first when windows start and disable Ctrl+Alt+Del keys. Other programs that you have installed (AntiVirus program etc.) are loaded after MAS Café.
- Restricted Mode
You can set all workstation security options from a single place. More than 30 workstation security options are available. System policies module - makes it possible to set certain restrictions on workstations to prevent computer abuse.
- Usage Scenarios
Your computers can be used this way:
- Pre-Paid Time Codes: Generate time codes on client or server and sell them to your customers. When that code is entered, client computer will be available for use. If time code is halted, it can be used some other time
- Membership mode: Regular customers have concessions other than normal price per hour.
- Prepaid Time Codes
With MAS Café you can generate prepaid time codes in series filled with a number, your café name, your messages and time of the code. After generating these, you can print these time codes.
- Action When Token Time Ends
When the session is finished, machine can be rebooted or user can be logged off automatically.
You can choose between:
- Log off when time is consumed
- Restart machine when time is consumed
- Run a specific application when time is consumed
- Terminate All Programs When Time Ends
When time of any code is finished, there could be some open programs being used by that customer. When last 10 minutes are remaining, customer is asked to buy additional time. When last 5 minutes are remaining, the same warning message is again given. When time ends, all applications started by the customer are automatically closed.
- Banners
The main panel displays banners which can be changed. It is a great way to market other services of your cafe!
On the left side of the main screen, space has been reserved for two banner ads which can be changed by administrator. Banner area has 150x150 size and banner ads have to be in Jpg or any other image format. Banners can be loaded from local (or network) folder.
- Remaining Time
Every computer displays the time that is remaining and the applications that can be used.
- Application Groups
You can define program categories like Internet, Office, and Games. Customers can only access those applications that you define. This way you can protect system of potentially destructive applications that customers may run.
Specifying which programs can be used on each computer is very simple. First define applications to be used at each machine through Define Applications screen. Then add these defined applications to different groups through Applications screen.
You can create different groups and add applications to these groups. The time codes that you create are all belong to different application groups.
- News & Announcements
You can show text of you own choice on the main panel. You can show prices or other information to your users. Use it to promote your services, or make regular announcements.
- Admin Panel
Admin panel is used to apply restrictions & setting other admin, security, preferences, background image, banners and allowed applications options. Admin panel is used to access different options:
- Administrator Password: This screen is used to modify admin login name & passwords.
- Security: This screen is used to apply restricted or shell mode.
- Applications: This screen is used to create application groups and to add applications to each group.
- Banners: This screen is used to change banners as well as background image of the software.
- Code Generation: This screen is used to generate & print time codes.
- Member Management: This screen is used to create new members and update existing member information.
- Preferences: This screen is used to set preferences like what should happen when a code is consumed, what should happen when a code is halted etc.
- Define Applications: This screen is used to define applications for a machine. These applications will be added to different groups and thus will be available for use by customers.
- Database Encryption
Codes in the database are encoded and protected from unauthorized modifications.
- Activity Logs
Activity log stores all activities.
- Web Based Reporting
You can track cafe's management from any internet connected computer in the world. Get instant HTML Reports. You can see usage statistics by time codes and many more reports. With the self-documented web based user interface you can view all your billing reports just with an ordinary browser from anywhere.
MAS Café provides you with various reports on income and workstation usage.
You can generate daily and periodical statistics for analyzing your Internet cafe business.
- Income Protection
The workstation usage report gives you complete control over the income.
- Auto Reconnect
Auto Reconnection if you are disconnected from the internet. It is not even necessary to press any button. Can this be easier?
- MAS Café User Interface
The MAS Café features very functional user interface optimized for 1024x768 resolutions.
- Minimize MAS Café
With the press of the small down arrow (in the center of the screen) MAS Café will be minimized and will cover the position of the windows task bar. Click on up arrow will restore minimized MAS Café on screen.
- Hide Drives
Admin can apply this restriction to hide any or all disks.
- System Requirements
Software will run on any Pentium processor-based personal computer with 32 MB of RAM and at least 5 MB of available hard disk space.
For better performance Pentium II with 64 MB of RAM (and faster computers) are recommended.
MAS Café runs on Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000.
The best solution is Windows 95/98/ME.
(There may be some security restrictions imposed by Microsoft Windows platform)
For database, MySQL, MS Access, MS SQL Server can be used.
- Automatically cleanup
When time purchased by a customer ends, MAS Café closes all active applications from the previous session.
- Add Additional Time to a Token
Allow customers to extend the time by purchasing additional tokens while their session is in progress.
- Transfer a Session from One Computer to Another
When a customer wants to change his or her computer, he or she will enter halt code and then can continue from new machine.
- Print Time Codes
When you generate time codes, you can print these at the same time or later on. Each time code can have your café name, your messages and time of the token. You can change the font to be used for printing.
- Database Server
All data are stored in a secured relational database

- Graphical User Interface (GUI)
Modern convenient user interface for the Management Console, optimized for fast (single click) execution of the most common tasks. Administration Console has a self-documented user interface. No needs to read lengthy help documents.
- Printing Monitoring and Billing
MAS Café is capable of monitoring and billing the printing. The pricing model for printing is based on per page charges basis so you can define different price per page. Each page sent to printer is noted and time is decreased for each print according to the setting in the admin panel.
- Advertisements
Banners have been placed to do advertisements on your screens. You can define different banners for different machines.
- Timeout Messages
Messages are sent to the customer when 10 minutes are remaining. Another message is sent when 5 minutes are remaining.
- Control Time Usage
Control time usage of your computers. A user will be logged off as soon as his time finishes.
- Other Features
Restrict access to Ctrl*Alt*Del keys, local drives, Internet Explorer settings, Control Panel, and many more. Run MAS Café as windows shell and increase security even further!
- Indicators for Internet & database Connectivity
There are two indicators for internet & database connectivity. When these indicators are green, it means that connectivity is ok otherwise there is some problem in connectivity.
- Client-server architecture
MAS Café uses client server approach.
- Security Protection
MAS Café software is protected against improper or malicious usage:
All connections and data send between clients and server are encoded and additionally protected by password.
- Terminating MAS Café in Shell Mode
MAS Café cannot be terminated by user when using shell mode.
- Password Protection on Admin Panel
Access to MAS Café admin panel is protected by password, so illegal access is not possible.
- Information about Remaining Time
They can check remaining time by checking progress bar.
- Unlimited Clients
This program can handle as many workstations as you need.
- Workstation Locking
When MAS Café runs in shell mode, workstations are locked to prevent them from being used unlawfully. When computer is locked it can display a custom message, picture or banner.
- Daily Event Log
Writing daily event logs (every operation is reported), gives owner control over the employees and of course the income.
- Printing Time Tokens
Time Tokens are printed for your customers. Each time token carries café name, your customizable messages and time duration along with token number. Token number will be used to access a system otherwise systems are locked.
- Customizable Halt Code
You can customize halt code. When halt code is pressed, remaining time of a code is saved for future use. You can also use this feature to shift users from one machine to another.
- Time Rounding Options
When halt code is pressed, remaining time is rounded to up or down according to your settings. This setting is customizable.
- Fully Customizable Charging Rates
Rates can be changed and new time tokens are printed.
- Closing Programs Left By Customers
Programs left by customers are automatically terminated when the time is over.
- Logon System
Customers with prepaid time codes can log in and off on their own.
- Showing Remaining Time
Counting time off the account for the customer
- Bonus Time
Admin can provide bonus time to compensate customers for Internet failures, computer breakdowns, etc.
- Notifications before Time End
Customers are sent earlier notification message when their time is going to finish.
- Backward Compatibility
New program versions are usually fully compatible with the previous ones, so update will just mean replacing executable files.
